Type Locality and Naming

Along the valley of the Tashsai River, at the confluence of the Turasai River, Angren Plateau. L.D. Anpleeva, A.A. Bukharina, 1977 (Koloyarov et al., 1977f). Stratotype according to the description by L.D. Anpleeva (Koloyarov et al., 1977f) published by B.I. Pinhasov (145).

Synonym: Tashsai Suite, Ташсайская св.


Lithology and Thickness

The suite consists of continental unevenly interbedded siltstone (aleurolites), sandstones, and gravels, raspberry, bright red, and red-brown. On the Angren Plateau, at the base of the section, lies a sequence of coastal-marine red-colored fine-pebble conglomerates, gravels, sandstones, and siltstone (aleurolites) thickness upto 0.5-5m, on the basis of which these deposits were usually attributed to the Sumzhar suite. Thickness up to 120 m.

Regional extent

Angren Plateau, central part of the Angren Depression, valley of the Chirchik River, p. Aksakata, Chatkal Depression, Sanzalash River. Partially corresponds to the lower part of the Chulin suite, the upper Lower Miocene part of the Sumzhar and Sarbatyr Fm. Correlated with the Kyzylchin Fm of the South Gissar.

Fossils

In them, R.K. Makarova, along with reworked Khanabad fauna, identified mollusks - Liostrea korobkovi Makar., Amphidonta ferganensis Rom., Lentidium cf. kuzhzsaica Merkl., Corbula helmerseni Mikh., Pitar baisunica Varenc., Chlamus cf. Bifida Miinst., C. sumsarica Vial., characteristic for the upper Lower Miocene part of the Sumzhar suite section and indicating the absence of the Oligocene Here; ostracods - Echinocytheris ferganensis (Mand.), E. miklushai (Mand.), E. bucera (Mand.), E. rischtanensis (Mand.), Pterigocythereis cornuta (Roem.), P. affabilata Mand., Cytheridea reticulata Mand.
